Aberdeen, NC asked in Real Estate Law for North Carolina

Q: is it discrimination or a violation of fair housing law for a rental company to submit only 1 applicant for rental if

I was in contact w them for weeks prior about the unit. I asked if I could go ahead & apply they said no but would call when I could look at it. Got call end of day saying they were showing it. Called next day was told it'd be Mon bc of key. Viewed it at 4pm Mon called then to tell them I wanted to apply. Emailed back & forth from 4-5 that day about app being submitted next day was told what the process was but nothing about time being of the essence. I had to get letters for app together. Sent email next morning asking a question & was told they'd rcvd an app & were just waiting on owner approvall. First come meaning, the first QUALIFIED applicant (not the first applicant). I feel like some kind of fair housing law was abused here. They knew i was coming & didn't even consider a quick call to say, they had an app & if I was submitting I needed to hurry. There was NO mention of urgency or time aside from them acknowledging that I would be there the next day. Completely unfair.
