Montgomery, AL asked in Contracts for Alabama

Q: What should I do if my husband unexpectedly passed away and I did all of the cremation authorization paperwork, but had

Them change the actual authorization/ contract to state that the funeral home would take out 5 bags of my spouses ashes for me to personally pick up and I agreed his mother could have the remainder. Well after a little time passed I was told by another friend that my mother in law already had the ashes but I had not been notified or contacted to go pick my portion up like the contract clearly stated and is what I signed off on . Now I don't know if I will ever get any of his ashes or if she even does give me something there is no way for me to know if they are actually my husband's ashes. My mother in law and I have had our issues over the years so I was afraid of this and it is why I had the contract changed. Is there anything I can do at this point for the negligence on the funeral homes part ? I don't know where else to turn. Please contact me back as soon as possible. Thank you.
