Q: Can health care providers charge you in office (not deductible or copay) and bill Medicaid for same service?
I go once a week to get an injection at a specialized health care provider. They told me that each injection cost $10 that I'd pay in office. I have Medicaid, but I figured Medicaid didn't cover it. I logged into my Medicaid and saw claims that were sent in from the health care provider for the injection which were approved, but do not include the $10 I paid in office. I now owe an additional $4 for the copay, even though I already paid $10 in the office. It's not that big of a deal, but I'm thoroughly confused and don't think it's even legal for the provider to do that.
Is this legal for the health care provider to do? This is in the state of North Carolina.
