A: Dear Sir/Madam,

First congratulations on getting engaged. I am certain this is very exciting time in your life. It sounds that you have a bona fide relationship and hence my answer will be based on that assumption (which looks to be true :-). The easiest way would be to get married to your fiancé. Before you do so, though, you should make certain that he or she originally entered the US legally. If so, and they do not have any bars from immigration, they could adjust their status.

I would consult with an immigration attorney to make certain that you do not run into any problems. Best of luck and congratulations again.
