A: Of course you can. You do not need an attorney to file your bankruptcy for you. The US Bankruptcy Courts provide a lot of information to guide individuals who wish to file bankruptcy. I recommend you go to the US Bankruptcy District Court website for where you live. Here are the websites for the four districts in California:

www.cacb.uscourts.gov

www.canb.uscourts.gov

www.caeb.uscourts.gov

www.casb.uscourts.gov

It would be wise, however, to contact an attorney to evaluate your case. From there you can determine whether you wish to file on your own or have an attorney assist. In my experience, I have found that my clients are better off having hired me than having done it on their own.
