Port Saint Lucie, FL asked in Collections for Florida

Q: Can a collection agency garnish my wages for common debt awarded to my ex-wife?

She was awarded our car and remaining loan amount. It was a no fault divorce. She defaulted, had the car repossessed. The Collection agency is threatening me over 2 years later.

A: Yes, once they get a judgment against both of you, if that is possible, they can garnish the wages of either.

A: What was said in the final judgment of your divorce does not affect the rights of the creditor to collect the amount from either or both of you.
