Columbus, OH asked in Family Law for Ohio

Q: husband is out of work, wife (working) is suing for divorce, a child involved. Wife has a lawyer. What can husband do?

husband does not want divorce, but cannot get wife to go to counseling, etc. He has written an appeal, but cannot afford a lawyer. Legal services (in Oh) does not do pro bono domestic cases. She is asking for money in spite of having no evidence of his financial or any other kind of abuse.

A: If he cannot afford to hire an attorney, and legal aid has declined to step in, he may simply have to represent himself. Court clerks and judges are actually fairly accommodating to reasonable pro se litigants.

Lee Thompson agrees with this answer

A: As noted, you can represent yourself. I can't tell from the question if the case is over or you want to file an appeal to the final decision. Sounds like it may still be pending.

Keep contacting attorneys. You may be able to find one that will work with you on fees. The Supreme Court has a site for forms that are standardized for all counties in Ohio.

You can find those forms here: http://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/jcs/cfc/drforms/

Best to you!
