Q: Are there laws that apply to dating in Florida? For anyone under the age of 18? Not necessarily sexual relationships?
I'm 17, turning 18 in August. My dad says I can only date someone two years younger than me to the exact day now that I'm over 16 and live in Florida. That's law, he says. Even if it's not a sexual relationship. The girl I want to dat is a freshman in high school, I'm a junior. We're both military kids and she's 15, and turns 16 in November. Can I date her in a nonsexual relationship and it still be legal, or is this a vain effort?
A: Dating? NO. Sex? Absolutely. Sex with a 15 year old is a very serious crime.
