Q: We just recently found out that the house we are renting is going into foreclosure. We have no idea what to do.

We have been renting the house since May 2012. In April 2014 the house flooded and the homeowner did not have flood insurance. He did not want to repair the damage but we were able to work it out where we did the work and he took it off our rent. He has since told us that if anything else happens he will not have it repaired. From what I understand we still have to pay him rent until the house is sold or we move, is this true? We are looking to move ASAP but since he hasn't been paying the mortgage we are afraid we won't get our deposit back and we could really use it to help move. Also, what if something major does happen before we can get out and he doesn't fix it, what are our rights? We never renewed the lease the last time, we are just month to month. We are just so lost. Thanks in advance.

A: Yes, you still have to pay rent to him until the home is sold at auction, actually until 11 days after, because he is still the owner. Go see an attorney for the rest of your questions.
