Los Angeles, CA asked in Personal Injury for Arizona

Q: Who is responsible for hospital expenses due to dog bite?

I am fostering for a rescue a pit mix who has broken leg. It was set by their vet with pins and screws. The vet carelessly did not rewrap well and a screw got caught in his crate. While trying to free him I was bit several times and was in hospital for 5 days and had hand surgery. Both vet and rescue claim they are not liable. Is this true?

A: You may want to contact a personal injury lawyer in your area for a free consultation. Yours sounds like a difficult case of negligence against the vet. But get that free consultation.

A: I agree with Attorney DeProspo. There is a statute in Arizona that makes dog owners strictly liable when their dog bites someone else. Here, you'd would have the show the vet was negligent. Based on the extent of your injuries, it's worth a consultation with an injury lawyer. Most Arizona injury lawyers, including me, offer free consultations. Let me know if you have questions.
