Q: Will Social assistance affect my immigration to the USA?
We have some concerns regarding inadmissibility. My fiance (Canadian citizen) is having some dental issues. She does not have dental insurance and dental care is not covered by Canada's nationwide healthcare program. There is a social assistance program that temporarily helps with dental care. We do not know if this will make her inadmissable in the future when we file for a K1 visa.
We are planning on having an affidavit of support to sponsor her because I don't have the income right now to sponsor her myself.
By the way we have a daughter who lives in Canada with my fiance and she receives a child tax benefit from the government every month to help support her. Does this help or hurt her admissibility in any way?
Additionally will going on regular monthly social assistance until leaving Canada negatively affect our immigration.
A: It is never helpful to obtain public assistance (as that presumes you will do the same when you are in the U.S.). Get off of it ASAP. That being said, it should not make you "inadmissible."
