First consult a TX business lawyer regarding non-citizens owning an LLC. F-1 student visa will only allow very passive involvement, and you cannot draw a salary or profit from the LLC. The short answer is yes. This work is unauthorized. A company or individual cannot have you work voluntarily. Federal regulations are strict for F-1 OPT work authorization while living and working in the United States. The proximity of home country is not relevant.
