Berne, NY asked in Car Accidents for New York

Q: What do I do?

I was driving my friends moped and hit his car. His car was about 5 feet away from where I started. The front plastic on the moped is broken and his car has a lot of scratches on the bumper, but I believe there were a lot of pre-existing scratches because it's from 2009. He wants to get the bumper replaced and repainted, but I think it should just get retouched as it's not a brand new car. I have already paid him $140 and the moped is only worth $200. What should I do? Would it be ok if I didn't pay anymore money and he wanted more money because I thought I had paid him enough? What if he takes me to small claims court?

A: What you can do is try to work things out with your friend. Or there is a the real possibility he will take you to small claims court.
