A: Depending on whether there are named beneficiaries for the private accounts, the IRA and the "joint accounts", you will likely need a probate attorney to assist you. On the other hand, if all accounts have named beneficiaries and the department of motor vehicles in Georgia has a streamlined process for transferring title on automobiles, you may be able to avoid probate. Many probate attorneys will offer consultations for a small fee (sometimes free), so it is likely in your best interests to visit with a probate attorney there in GA. Best of luck.
