Lexington, SC asked in Consumer Law for South Carolina

Q: What is sufficient.proof of.income to qualify for a title.loan in SC? Is a hand written reciept book legal ?

I got a .title loan and ended up losing my truck because im a self employed carpenter that only able to work as needed, my proof of employment showed that through a hand written reciept book from the previous year. I only made enough money during one month to actually show that i could repay the loan. I got 1 payment behind and they reposessed my truck. I think they just sat back and waited for this.to happen. Are there any laws to govern these companies from taking advantage of people ?
