Anchorage, AK asked in Workers' Compensation for Alaska

Q: I have a question about the legality of workers compensation denying to pay for a surgery after it has been approved.

State: Alaska. This is about a family member who was hurt on the job. He had a first surgery that didn't go well. He then changed doctors went through the proper channels, had the second surgery which was originally approved by them. Then now after the surgery the workers compensation is saying they will not pay for the second surgery. Is this something they are allowed to do? I would assume not. Just looking for a little more information, thanks.

A: Did the WC insurance carrier explain why they won't pay for the second surgery? It could be one of several reasons.

I might be able to help your family member. If he wishes, have him contact me.
