Q: If I filed a harassment complaint and that person retaliates, can I take legal action or have them arrested?
A woman at work had been staring at me for a while. She told me she didn't like me, but kept staring. I tried avoiding her. She pulled up the back of her shirt to show me her butt. I called the company harassment line. She retaliated by calling the police to see I was stalking her. What I was actually doing was going up there on Saturday to put out bread sometimes because the bread vendor was paying me to do so. But it wasn't every Saturday. I never attempted to communicate with her. I usually just put the bread out and left. Is her retaliation illegal? What actions can I take against her within the law?
A: It appears that she may well have been concerned that you were stalking her. Thus no, you don't have a case.
