Boston, MA asked in Employment Law and Immigration Law for Massachusetts

Q: What are my options? Please correct me if I am wrong about information I Have

I am an OPT Student.

I was born in Ukraine, I have a paper which proves it from hospital.

My Mother is Ukrainian(now Russian); Dad is Russian.

I was born in 1992 the time when USSR fall, and at the time it was easier to make my birth certificate in Russia, so on birth certificate it says “born in Russia”.

I finished USA school. And Started OPT.

My visa was given me only for 6 month. And because I did quick program I could go back to renew it. I was in rolled in classes all year round two years in a row. It takes time in Russia to apply, interview and get visa.

With a current situation in Russia I am afraid to go back and not be able to get new visa. Though my Status is good for now, I would love to obtain Green Card.

One option I know is H1 work visa, but now it works like lottery as I understand what means 50/50 chances to stay here. I don’t like this uncertainty.

Another option is political protection, but I heard I could apply only during 1st year.
