Miami, FL asked in Elder Law for Florida

Q: Am I limited to certain hours of the day/night when visiting a family member in a Florida nursing home?

I'm concerned about recent care, safety, and well-being of a family member in a nursing home. That said, I was unable to reach my father via phone in his room between 7:45-8:00pm so I called the nurse who advised he was sleeping. I continued to phone my father until he answered at 8:15pm and advised me that he was being prepared for bedtime. I stated I would call back in 10 min. After making several calls between 8:30-9:00pm, I called the nurse again to check on him and asked her to receive my incoming room phone call. She refused saying that my father was sleeping. That said, I drove to the facility to check on him. By the time I arrived, he was asleep so I stayed for awhile. Later, the nurse supervisor approached me saying I was not allowed to stay; that it was against both the company's policy and the law and I could not visit at that hour. Don't I have the right to visit at any time during the day or night if not interfering with resident care?
