Tempe, AZ asked in Personal Injury for Arizona

Q: Is it legal for a lawyer to send a Cease and Desist letter, which is directed towards me, to also my college?

An ex-girlfriend had a lawyer send a Cease and Desist letter to me so that I would stop contacting her. She had never directly told me to stop contacting her before this so I would on occasion send her an email expressing my feelings towards her which would always result in no response. Since while yes getting no response back may be an indication that she did not wish to be contacted further, I was never told by her or any other third party to stop until I received this letter. I am obviously going to respect the cease and desist request and stop my contact with her, however; I was slightly annoyed to find out that this lawyer also sent the letter to my schools counseling services and my parents. According to the lawyer it is because she is worried about my mental health since I am at risk for suicide due to the loss of my relationship. I feel as if this is an infringement of my privacy since my college nor my parents need to be aware of me receiving this letter.
