Q: Previous owner didn't get permit to convert a screened porch in to a covered 3 season sun room with window, drywall etc.
We bought our house back in 2001. We recently decided to sell the property and came to know the previous owner had the permit only for the deck and a screened porch and just months before selling the property to us he had some contractor put in some windows and drywall to make it look like a sun room and he didn't get the permit to do that. The room does not have AC, heater or electricity in it. It was NOT professionally done. We had our home inspection when we bought the house and the inspector didn't find any issue with it. The sunroom is not considered as a living space and the Sq.ft is not counted toward the total sq.ft of the house.
My questions:
1. Is it required to get permit and inspection when the previous owner modified the porch into a sun room
2. Can I convert the covered sunroom back to a screened porch ? Does it require a new permit/inspection
