Mesquite, TX asked in Car Accidents for Texas

Q: Do I need a lawyer?

Involved in accident on 1/16/16, other driver at fault, no injuries, car totaled. Insurance company will not communicate or answer calls. I've spent over $600 on rental car, now without any transportation, have missed a week of work because of that. They sent me a form to sign over title of my car? I don't feel comfortable signing anything with this company.

A: You should contact the person at the insurance company who sent you the Title Form. You should not sign and return the form before speaking with someone. They should be paying you for the value of your vehicle, and you can also discuss reimbursement for rental expenses. However, if the vehicle is totaled, they do not have to cover your rental expenses.

Please note: I am not your lawyer and we do not have an attorney/client relationship as a result of this question and answer.
