Sullivan, OH asked in Libel & Slander for Ohio

Q: I am being defamed by a store owner in Elyria Ohio, what are my options?

I used to volunteer at this store (Kieths Comics} for more than a year, the last day I was working I had limited work space due to a customer and set books I purchased on a books I was thinking of getting, I got distracted and forgot the books were piled together when I put them in my bag while closing the store then drove the Owner home like most Tuesday nights, he asked if I had taken a copy of specific title and I said no because I honestly thought I didn't have it, I willingly produced my bag and was surprised to find I had indeed put them with my stuff, I Immediately apologized, took him back to his store and paid for the books which I didn't even want. He banned me from his store and I was cool with the decision, I made a mistake, but now he's telling other customers I have been stealing from him more than that one time and they in turn are telling other people I am working with the same thing.

A: You don't have many good options here. Is this not something you two can work out?
