Q: I had a lady ask me to help her with a job painting cabinets and doing tile. I am not licenced so helped her find .
I got her a tile guy to help and someone to paint her cabinets. I charged her for consultation and told her I'd help her through the process. Everything went wrong she was at first not happy with the tile but later satisfied. In the end she didn't want to pay him I did pay him some out of my money he now wants his money and she is saying she paid me which she didn't . Now she says after this elaborate lie to avoid paying she says she will press charges for money back from me and claiming she gave cash to me to give to him. A big mess#! I never signed any contract with her only cashed a check she gave me for helping. She also didn't have a contract written with the tile guy. Can I get in trouble forher saying I didn't finish helping her with the job and lying about paying me cash . The reason I couldn't help her or actually do the work was bc her condo association needed a licence and insured contractor but she insisted she could sneak me in. I wasn't comfortable with that.
A: it's basically your word against hers regarding whether she gave you cash to pay the tile guy.
