Kingman, AZ asked in Immigration Law for Arizona

Q: My Pakistani friend wants to come to Arizona for a 3-4 week vacation. Does this require significant dedicated funds?

This is not an intimate relationship nor would I want to pay for his needs or share personal information. Is a sponsor truly needed for just a vacation visit? Neither one of us is able to set aside additional funds on top of the cost of the trip. Are there other options available that are not significant costs?

A: It is not necessary for a foreign individual who wants to visit the U.S to have a U.S citizen or resident sponsor in all cases. The reason many visitors get a sponsor is because having a sponsor strengthens and increases the visitors chances of getting their visa approved. Also sponsoring does not mean you have to spend money for the person visiting, it just means you have to show the officials that you have enough money in case something happens. It is more of a security measure than a financial issue. If you have more questions or if you would like a free consultation feel free to contact my office (323-803-7147).

All the best.
