Columbus, OH asked in Immigration Law for Ohio

Q: Responding to green card RFE ?

Hi,

I'm an Egyptian born in Kuwait, living in the United States under H1B visa,

I have submitted my marriage-based green card application, with my copy of the original Kuwaiti (born place) birth certificate with certified Transaltion, and my recent Egyptian (country of citizenship) birth certificate with certified Translation. I just received RFE says "you have submitted an english translation of a foreign birth certificate; please submit a copy of the applicant's foreign birth certificate issued by the appropriate civil authority". I looked online for civil authority for Egyptian birth certificate, and I found that it's required to be from public health office, while my current birth certificate was issued by Ministry of Interior "not Ministry of Health". Now Egyptian Embassy in US will issue the same one I have from Ministry of Interior "not Ministry of Health". How can I respond to the RFE? Thanks

A: I would urge you to consult with and hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with this case. Not because I think you’re not capable of handling it, you may will be, but in order for the lawyer to debrief and brief you, analyze, assess and evaluate your case in order to maximize the possibilities for a successful result. BTW, the Foreign Affairs manual contains information on obtaining country documents. Don't stumble through this yourself - get an immigration lawyer. Good luck.
