Whittier, CA asked in Domestic Violence, Landlord - Tenant and Criminal Law for California

Q: In CA, is there limit to how long one may file report for being physically attacked twice by landlord/roommate?

I was attacked by my former roommate/landlord on two separate occasions, the last being in Jan. 2016. SHE called the police both times and stated in both calls to 911 that she had hit me. The first time, her and her boyfriend left before the sheriff showed up. I covered for her saying it was an argument between them. The second time, I waited; over 30 min. for police to show, but decided to leave because she would not stop being aggressive and had a knife in her hand. I spoke to police later that not night but NOTHING was done. They just told me for my safety to not go back there at all, unless they accompanied me. I had to leave everything, my 2 precious kitties, my husbands ashes. They went to my work a couple days later on my off day and caused a big scene trying to dump my belongings in driveway. I was fired & became homeless. They agreed to care for my cats, I said I'd pay them, they refused to communicate for months. I love my cats and have tried all this time to get.
