Long Island City, NY asked in Traffic Tickets for New York

Q: My Lawyer failed to appear in court for a tbv ticket.

He claimed he was very sick- however he didn't notify me that he didn't appear in my case. The lawyer was paid, he promised me he will get a new date because he claimed he was very sick and that the judge is aware of his absence due to special circumstance.

Not only he didn't get a new date, i got a notice impending driver license suspension&conviction. And the lawyer is not answering my calls for 2 days now.. completely ignoring my calls.

Hearing took place 7/28 , I have until 8/29- after that my license will be suspended. And until 9/28 to answer the ticket or i will be convicted of the charge.

What are my options now and what is the best course of action to solve both problems?

Thanks in advance,

Rubens

A: Go down to the nearest NYS DMV office, they should be able to get the case rescheduled and avoid suspension.
