Brooklyn, NY asked in Car Accidents for Rhode Island

Q: Can my insurance deny my claim if I'm unemployed and was picking up a water heater for my father who runs a company?

The insurance is saying I was using vehicle for work related purposes but I'm unemployed and do not receive any paycheck. I was picking up a water heater for my father who ownes a plumbing company and was taking it home from the store. Can they deny my claim?

A: This sounds like a very fact specific claim/denial. Meet with an attorney who may be able to argue on your behalf.

A: I believe not, but if they want to say that then you could get your father's insurance involved and let them fight it out.

A lot depends on how R.I. views this (I'm assuming it was RI acc). Contact a member of the R.I.Assn for Justice--they give free consults. If crash was in Mass look for a member of the Mass Academy of Trial Lawyers.
