A: Your friend needs to hire a local experienced criminal defense lawyer right away. Yes they can hold her and make her pay a bond of $25000 before being released. She is entitled to a bond reduction hearing. It may be the police are saying she had to know about the drugs because they were near her feet or under the seat beside her or something similar. Unfortunately, bond hearing is not the place to argue that she knew nothing about any drugs; that's done at trial. All the best to your friend.
