Q: Can a Job let you go saying you walked out because you refused to work with someone who was harrassing you?

I was at work one night not yet on the clock and an employee came to me yelling at me and had me crying i got in my car and called my boss to tell him i could not work with this person. I did not feel safe or comftable around them he then informed me that if i did not work with him that night i would not have a job when i went to get my paycheck he gave me a termination letter that said i walked out but i did not i just refused to work with this person that night.Yet they never fired the other person for what he done to me

A: Can the employer terminate you, yes. Is it lawful for your former employer to have done so, potentially not. I would suggest that you call an attorney and provide more details. It would be in your best interest. That way you can make sure that if any deadlines are associated with you potentially claims, they're met. I am sorry you had to go through this. Generally, an employer can terminate you for good, bad, or no reason at all. This is limited, of course, to the employer not having the right to violate your rights by terminating you (i.e. You not giving in to your harasser.). Call an attorney.
