Morton, IL asked in Family Law, Criminal Law and Juvenile Law for Illinois

Q: Minor left home and refused to return age 17. She is now claiming I have her property and $$ she took.

Sole custody, teenage attitude and wanted to live with her mom, causing lots of issues in our home and due to age police refused to make her return. Her brothers packed up her stuff in bags and baskets she left and loaded them into their gpas car when he picked them up for a visit. She is now claiming I have more of her stuff and $$ that is not in my home. She didnt have any more, never worked or babysat. My wife taped the boys putting her belongings in the trunk. What are my rights if an officer shows up to try and get stuff I dont have?

A: If police show up wanting to talk to you, do not allow them in your home without a warrant and do not talk to them, period. Contact a criminal defense attorney in your area immediately.
