Asked in Products Liability for Michigan

Q: How can I find out what punitive damages I am entitled to after biting a piece of metal from burger purchased locally?

I bit into a piece of metal and had to have a crown put on my tooth - the insurance company wants me to settle for $2000 - $1284 of which is my dental bill. I'm concerned about future problems and feel that $700 in punitive damages is an insult...how much should I be entitled to for the time off work and my pain and suffering - as well as future problems I may have with my teeth.

A: I don't see punitives. You have a right to claim for strict liability for food products. As to future consequences, unless your dentist will give you a letter stating that to a reasonable degree of medical certainty you will have problems you don't get that.

ask for 1 k more. Consult a member of the Michigan Assn for Justice--they give free consultations.

Do understand that GOP governors, legislators, judges have made things very difficult for injury plaintiffs in Michigan. Remember that next week.
