Asked in Criminal Law for Oklahoma

Q: Do I need a lawyer? Why wouldn't the detective respond when this is a matter of legal civil repossession per the APD?

8/6 the defendant repossessed a vehicle. Prior to taking possession called APD out to standby and check that the correct paperwork title, bill of collateral, original keys and insurance card. There are no license required in to repossess in Texas but wanted to make sure we did what was required. Police checked paperwork and stated this was civil. They could not force the other party to give over the truck Comparing it to child custody whoever peacefully has possession is in rightful position. Police told him he had to call dispatch after recovery and report it. Immediately after recovery this was done. On 12/16 a warrant was issued for his arrest regarding this repossession but showing unauthorized use of vehicle. He was arrested on 12/21 during a traffic stop in Oklahoma now pending extradition. The DAs office will not speak to me and the detective has failed to return the many messages left..
