Q: How can I get legal aid in Arizona for a car accident that I am being sued for but I was a minor at that time?
I am currently being sued for car accident that I was in when I was 17 years old. They have been sued just me and like I was married since I was 17. Got pulled over last night and never received any notice of my license plate and license being suspended. My car got impounded and I'm lucky that I didn't get arrested. Trying to figure out how I can be sued personally when I was a minor. How they can suspended everything without telling me they did this. I really am just searching for answers and help since I didn't know about this.
A:
Sounds like you were sued, they got a judgment. If you had insurance at the time you need to find out what happened.
Also, depending on how many years it was it may be you can get the suspension lifted.
Start by talking to the insurance company you had at the date of the wreck. Then going to the DMV and get a copy of your license & registration record.
The license and registration record should show what was filed. You make copies of that. that will show what address they used.
Part of the problem is if you move and don't update the address on your license, DMV is only required to send mail to the address you give and not to figure out where you went to.
Then you go to the courthouse where that filing came from and look up the docket for your case, see what happened when.
Then you contact a member of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Assn--they give free consults.
