Q: My father died 10 years ago and left my step mother as executor of his will and he also left property described in

the will to myself and my brother to be deeded into our names. my step mother was executor and did probate the will but I just found out 3/17/17 that she left the house he left to her and the land he left to my brother and I all in my fathers name. It has been 10 years sense he died. Leagaly how long should she have had this done, I was prepared to sell my land and now I find out even tho all these years she said she had the seeds to our property she did not she just had them registered at the local courthouse in our names for us to pay the taxes on ....at a loss for words....just wondering what can my brother and I do about this ?

A: Ask the lawyer who probated the estate (or another probate lawyer if that lawyer is not available) to draft Distribution Deeds putting the property in the right name and record them with the county clerk in the county in which the real property is located.
