Tulsa, OK asked in Adoption, Family Law and Child Custody for Oklahoma

Q: Can children be taken from an unfit home in Oklahoma, and reside with family members in other states?

My mother is an unfit parent, raising myself, and 2 of my siblings in an unfit environment. She has drugs throughout the house, she is a prostitute, sometimes doing it in the house with us home, and is verbally and sometimes physically abusive. We have been taken before, I went to my grandmas because she adopted me, years ago. My siblings went to my uncle. However, it only went so smoothly, because we were in Kansas. Would things work out the same in Oklahoma? Or would we be put into foster care? My mom has actual custody of my siblings.

A: Yes, it is certainly possible. You should immediately call DHS child protective services to come and get you guys. It will be foster care for a bit, while Kansas DHS checks out home conditions there, and willingness of them to take you guys.

My prayers are with you. Please let me know how you are doing. Cell 918-373-4055.
