Q: 20yr old daughter living on college campus. Will the courts allow me to pay her and not her father?
She only comes home once in a while, but her primary res is with her father, but i don't see why is should have to give him the money. I'd like to be able to just give the support payments to my daughter.
A: Assuming you're talking about child support, there should be an agreement that details the terms of support (e.g., a property settlement agreement). These agreements generally list the custodial parent as the payee of the child support monies. If you bypass your ex and start paying your daughter directly without first modifying the terms of your agreement through a court order, you may wind up being sued for having violated the agreement. You should retain an attorney..
