Asked in Divorce for North Carolina

Q: How can i get my husband to return to the india and honor the legal proceedings against him.

we are permanent resident of India. we lived together in NC for 2.5 years. I was going through mental and physical abuse there. He was so manipulative and used to threaten me alot so i never filed any complaint against him in NC. I returned to India for few months and when he abused me in india i filed complaint against him which turned into FIR but he managed to escape the country and went back to NC. How can i take legal help in NC, while sitting in india to bring him back to India to honor legal proceedings.

A: To determine whether or not you'll be able to compel your husband from NC back to India, you'll need to consult with an attorney licensed to practice in India.

You can, however, still file suit against him in NC. Based on your description, it seems like you should contact 2-3 family law attorneys in NC to find one you'd like to work with going forward.
