Q: Virginia comisión aprove my settlement how long now I need to wait to get my check in mail

A: You will receive your check once the order is entered and the employer's insurance carrier processes the check. Normally within a couple weeks. After 30 days, they are subject to a penalty.

A: Most insurance companies send out a settlement check upon receipt of the settlement order. However, technically, they can wait 44 days before there is a penalty (30 days for an appeal plus the 14 day penalty period). But again, most insurance companies want to get it over with and will send out the settlement check right away. I base this opinion on 35 years of representing injured and disabled workers in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
