Q: Do we need to file extension or amendment.
The expiry date in the amendment approval is 09/14/2017 and expiry date in original petition is 05/04/2018. The expiry in the amendment approval is exactly matching with expiry date in previous employer's I797 approval notice i.e 09/14/207 and looks like something wrong . Do we need to file extension now since the expiry date is 09/14/2017. Or do we need to file h1b amendment again.
A: This looks like a USCIS mistake, but it would also be a good idea to check the extension petition papers over carefully as prepared by your employer or its attorney, in order to make sure that there was no typographical error at its end. If there was a USCIS mistake, calling the USCIS customer service line might help to resolve it.
