Q: GA state law will deport me if i can't present a valid drivers license at the state courthouse?
GA state law will deport me if i can't present a valid drivers license at the state courthouse? Because i've been waiting for the removal trial date since 2014. When i pulled over by police, i showed him other state license and he told me i need to attend the court with GA license. I tried to get one but i coundn't. If i go to the court without driver's license, they will arrest me? Please help me.
A:
This is a problem, and you need your immigration to answer some questions for you.
If the license from another state is valid, you may be OK> But, it sounds like you told the police you lived in GA. This is likely why (if you still had a valid license elsewhere) that you were told you had to appear in court.
Some places, like Gwinnett County have been aggressively pushing ICE to come get folks. No way I can tell you if your court will be proactive or not.
You can call Attorney Larry Kohn, and he will tell you if he can help, or will need to get an immigration specialist to assist, 404-538-3373.
