Tallahassee, FL asked in Criminal Law and Traffic Tickets for Florida

Q: I have a warrant for missing a court date in FL. FL is my primary residence and the court date was sent to home in NJ

I never received the letter, and was instructed to write a letter to the judge explaining the situation and make a request. What is the best way to do this? I simply want to be able to avoid court if possible, and be allotted time to pay the traffic fines. I was unable to pay the fines before, as i i was unemployed. A relative has offered to assist with the financial burden. I do not have any prior criminal history, just a history of difficulty paying fines due to financial hardship.

A: The only way you can resolve this matter without appearing in Florida is to hire an attorney in Florida to try and resolve the case with a written plea.
