Q: Anonymous call brought task force to door. I opened door, said they needed to just look.
They started opening drawers, cabinets, slinging clothes everywhere. They found set of scales which belongs to ex brother and law, and some meth and pipe. All not mine. But because in my apartment.....but they left took everything with them and said they'd be back Friday to take me to jail? What are they doing? If I'd known those items were in apartment, I wouldn't have let them in. But they trashed my place and all without a warrant. What are they doing before Friday? Is this a breech of my 4th amendment?
A: A warrant should have been shown to you and you should have been provided a copy. I hope you were able to get the department name down and a copy of the warrant. But, as you stated you did not get one. The circumstances surrounding your description are peculiar and I would need more information to give you more of a complete answer. Typically if drugs and paraphernalia is found in your apartment you would be arrested the word possession of those items.
