Q: Do I have a case to get reimbursed for expenses paid out for a faulty product and additional compensation life's impact?

Took my car to get its oil changed and the oil filter was defective and the engine blew up in another state. FRAM has paid to have a used engine put in my car but I was without a car for 1 & 1/2 months. My car is in another state and needs to be picked up this Saturday. I shouldn't have to drive to another state to pick my car up or I should be compensated for the gas, time, etc... I feel I should also be compensated for being without a car for 1 and 1/2 months before they finally got me a rental. The third party insurance lady told me today that the dealership had to put in a new part, an oil seal, and I have to pay $22 for it. She said the law says FRAM only needs to replace like for like parts. She is negotiating the rest of my requests for reimbursement with FRAM. I also feel my car has depreciated faster than normal due to all this work. Can I get more $ than expenses if I sue? Can I get compensated for the time without a car and excessive depreciation due to engine replacement?

A: So far, what has been done to remedy your losses has been pretty decent. If you end up still short, when all is said and done, do not sign a final release. Take the case (or have a lawyer handle) a small claims court case.
