Debary, FL asked in Identity Theft, Contracts and Foreclosure for Florida

Q: We were approved for a trial mortgage modification and have made 4 payments but a lien is going to cost us our home.

The lien is from an unrepeatable roofing company that left us with $9,000.00 plus in damage and future repair cost, they never finished job, they never obtained final inspection and left the roof with a dangerous code violation. Building inspector requires new permit and code violations repaired. We held money to force the roofer to comply but they just slapped an inflated lien on us. Mortgage company has given us till 8/13/17 to fix the lien or they will deny the modification. We are desperate.

A: I understand your desperation but the only answer is to hire an attorney to challenge the lien and or sue the roofer for damages.
