Atlanta, GA asked in Domestic Violence and Employment Law for Georgia

Q: My family and my in-laws have a volatile relationship that has ended in us asking for no contact with them.

They continued to harass my wife and we told them the next step is a restraining order. My father in law both work for a county in GA I was threatened today at work that if this continues I could lose my job. Is that legal?

A: Start recording any conversations or communications, from or related to these folks. You asking for no contact is not the same as a Judge ordering it. Did you put the request in writing and send it to each one? Are you sure they received it?

By downloading an app, your cell phone can record continuously, for hours. If nothing comes up, then erase it. When the smoking gun comes up, you have great evidence.

If you are going to lose your job over this, it is time to talk to a lawyer who handles employment issues. Look under Super Lawyers, to find an employment law specialist, and see what you need to do.
