Q: If there is an accident involving a non-licensed driver, is there fault on one or both sides

guy driving girlfriend's car without a license. I backed into him and bumped his bumper. Police did not ticket me, but wrote it up as my fault. They did not have him on the report.

A: Well, it seems that the cop was trying to do his/her best to HELP the boyfriend, and possibly help you.

If insurance is going to pay for this, then they may NOT if you entrusted your vehicle to an unlicensed driver.

If damages are small, then pay the claim out of pocket without going through insurance. This prevents your rates from being hiked, for making this claim.

Plus, if you use their money, and they later find out the claim was fraudulent, then you could have even BIGGER problems with the law.
