San Francisco, CA asked in Workers' Compensation for California

Q: Ignored by my WC adjuster - Impossible to get a PTP.

CA Workers Compensation issue.

After receiving my report from the QME (not reached a permanent and stationary status), my first PTP stated that he couldn't do anything for me anymore. The adjuster (who will only reply to my emails 15+ days after) sent me a list and 2 PTP have already declined to treat me. 20 days later after my next choice, no reply from the adjuster (I emailed her twice). What would be my next step? I already contacted an attorney, but since I had more than 1 WC cases in the past, it seems that I am ignored as well on that side. Any help welcome. Thank you

A: Look for a Workers Compensation Specialist anywhere close to your home. You will eventually find one. If you cannot, contact the California Applicant Attorney Association (CAAA) and ask for a referral or list of attorneys.

A: You've asked a question from a free internet site, so I see you are active on the Internet. Therefore, you should (1) go to the website for the Workers Comp Insurer's Medical Provider Network, and (2) see all the physicians in all the specialties on that MPN who could be your new treating physician.

THEN IT"S TIME TO RESEARCH. First call the number and find out if that is the correct contact; about 1/2 are not. Then if the address and phone are correct, look up that doctor on Google and see if there are bad reviews on Vitals.com, Healthgrades.com, even Yelp! If there is NO information on this doctor at this location, you know that's not really his office, he just sees people there every 6 weeks...not a treater you want because if your car dies or you have the flu, you're waiting 12 weeks between treatment appointments.

IF YOU HAD an attorney like my buddy 'maddog' Bret Borah up there in the Bay Area, he'd already have all this research done and find you the best doctor on that insurer's MPN list. (if you get a few doctors listed from the adjuster, all of those will be 'in bed' with the adjuster and you won't get a complete diagnosis and you won't get any real treatment...that's why she picked those particular names).
