Q: My son has 2 daughters and raised them with wife not legally married..they went to court few months ago for mediation fo

Child support.they are waiting for court hearing to decide how much he has to pay..now child support started taking money from his check without going to court yet.they said he has not paid anything sense they were born.how is that when they broke up about 8 months ago.one one kids is 7 years old and the other 5 years old.do you think shes is lying to child support or re filed claiming from when they were born..shes lying..what can he do..courts are very expensive...thank you

A: I'm not sure which it is: "wife not legally married"; either she is marred to him (and therefore his wife) or not married (and not his wife). But in any event, yes: it's up to the court to decide who is telling the truth. She is entitled to child support from when the children's parents separated, not from when the children were born (if the parents were living together with the children).
